The state-wide award was presented at the PAB’s annual
Awards Luncheon, May 2nd at The Hershey Hotel.

Commenting on the recognition, Bobby V “The Duke of Doo Wop” and host/producer said “I am extremely pleased to accept this award for the thousands of listeners who have made the show #1 in the
Scranton Wilkes-Barre market on Sunday nights for 20 years.

Maestro's last performance was Jan. 17, when The Brooklyn Bridge was among groups appearing at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. It was billed as "Bowzer's Ultimate Doo-Wop Party."

"As frail and weak as Johnny seemed, I knew he didn't want to have to cancel," host Jon "Bowzer" Bauman said in an e-mailed statement. "I told him afterward it was the most courageous performance I'd ever seen. As frail as he looked, that's how strong he sounded.

"It was a privilege to have known him, and it was thrilling to have listened to him," said Bauman.

Legendary Philadelphia radio broadcaster Hy Lit has died at age 73!

The disc jockey suffered complications following knee surgery and passed away

Saturday Nov. 17th, 2007

Lit spent over half a century in the entertainment business. He brought the Beatles to Philadelphia in 1964, during a decade-long run at WIBG -- “Wibbage” -- and yeah, he coined the term. He worked at several stations in town, including most recently, 16 years at WOGL. He also worked in TV, and even as an announcer for the Harlem Globetrotters.

The members of the Jukebox Cruisers Car Club express our deepest condolences to the Lit family on the passing of a remarkable radio legend,
