As a special production run for 2009, each Model 7600 rifle sports a non-embellished receiver and barrel with blued finish, and a Select Maple stock and fore-end with high gloss finish. This Is Why The Deer Kill In PA Was So Light This Season!

Let's make a long story short!

This is the pull off SR 61 and Adamsdale Rd. near Orwigsburg. The deer was hit there. The couch was dumped there previously.

Day 2 the deer was on the couch. Day 3 the end table and lamp showed up. Day 4 the TV and TV stand showed up.

A neighbor had to call PENN DOT and wait because of all the people stopping to take pictures.

*** 100th Anniversary ***

Centennial Celebration August 14th, 15th, 16th!

By VICTOR IZZO tneditor@tnonline.com

VICTOR IZZO/TIMES NEWS

The clubhouse, pavilion, and grounds of the Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club, located on Reservoir Road in Jim Thorpe, will be the site of the upcoming 100th Anniversary Celebration of the club over the three-day period of Aug. 14-16.

A picnic was held recently for members of the Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club to help finalize planning and arrangements for the upcoming celebration of the club's 100th anniversary, making it the oldest continually operating outdoors sporting club in Carbon County.

The centennial celebration will mark the culmination of more than two years of planning to organize this landmark event, which is scheduled to run over the three-day period of Aug. 14-16 at the club grounds in Jim Thorpe.

The club is planning children's activities, nightly music entertainment for adults, and food services provided by its members.

While there will be a minimal charge for food and drinks, all of the entertainment activities will be open to the public for free.

The club is also planning to have special guests for seminars and demonstrations on outdoor-related topics. There will also be a small number of local, nonprofit organizations present.

The activities, which are tentatively scheduled at this time, will include: a Chinese Auction; a fish pond for children to catch real fish; a dunk tank; food and beverages; and the musical entertainment of music/karaoke by DJ "Davey G" on the 14th: "Nightwind" on the 15th: and "Southern Comfort" on the 16th.

In addition to those daily activities, tentative plans for Saturday, Aug. 15 also include children's activities such as a wheel barrow race, 3-legged race, sack race, water balloons, frisbee ring throw, soccer board, pie eating, pin the tail, and watermelon eating.

Also on the 15th, Buster the Clown, children's face painting, horse and buggy rides, and a visit from the Carbon County Environmental Education Center.

There will also be some children's activities planned for the 16th.

The pavilion has been the site of many picnics and outdoor activities down through the years.

There are also tentative plans for off-site parking with a shuttle every 15 minutes to/from the club grounds along with handicapped parking at the lower parking area on club grounds.

The Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club is located on Reservoir Rd. in Jim Thorpe and is a nonprofit organization which utilizes memberships, fundraisers, activities, and donations to maintain the club grounds and provide outdoor stewardship in the area.

It conducts monthly meetings on the grounds.

Many of its members support other local state and national organizations supporting gun ownership rights, fair hunting, fishing, and trapping laws and conservation/environmental causes.

The club grounds include a rifle range, outdoor pavilion, indoor clubhouse with a bar, indoor party facility, horse shoe pits, volleyball court, archery range, children's park rides, and a large parking area.

The club has many activities for its members throughout the year and some events are open to the public. Some of the activities are: in-house dart league, Jim Thorpe area pool league, adult and children's holiday parties and entertainment, a fish fry, a pig roast, a long board tournament, block shoots, a spaghetti dinner, dances and karaoke, and hunter education classes.

The club also sponsors the Jukebox Cruisers Car Club, which is known locally for its generosity in helping those individuals and organizations in need.

They also hold their monthly meetings on the club grounds and have car cruises to benefit the Gun Club.

Pennsylvania Gun Registration Legislation Introduced!

Friday, April 06, 2007

Please Contact Your State Legislators Today!

The "Gun Registration Act of 2007", House Bill No. 760, sponsored by State Representatives Angel Cruz (D-180), Rosita Youngblood (D-198), Cherelle Parker (D-200), Jake Wheatley (D-19), Lisa Bennington (D-21), and Lawrence Curry (D-154) has been introduced in Harrisburg.

This misguided proposal would require every gun in Pennsylvania to be registered annually with the state. The registration would cost law-abiding gun owners $10 per gun each year. Of course, criminals won’t pay anything BECAUSE CRIMINALS DON'T REGISTER GUNS! In fact, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Haynes v. U.S. (309 U.S. 85 (1968)) that since felons are prohibited from owning firearms, compelling them to register them would violate their 5th Amendment rights against self-incrimination. However, if a law-abiding gun owner fails to register it, he or she will be jailed and lose his or her Second Amendment rights FOREVER.

The measure would require each gun owner submit to fingerprinting, have a background check, and include passport-style photos for the registration cards. The registration card for each gun would then have to be carried with that gun at all times. To make matters worse, if the state should reject your application for any reason, YOUR GUNS WILL BE CONFISCATED!

Please call your State Representative and State Senator today and ask them to oppose HB760! For contact information or help identifying your State Legislators, please click here.

It's time for all Pennsylvania NRA members’ voices to be heard!
